Office Visits
Your First Visit
At your first visit to our office you will be greeted by one of our team members in our business office. You will have the opportunity to meet the rest of our team and Dr. Robin or Dr. Debbie as you get to take a tour of our modern facility. This gives you a chance to get to know us right from the start. You will be asked to fill out our New Patient forms unless you download them here (insert link to forms) and fill them out before you arrive. After reviewing these forms which include a medical history we will begin your exam using digital x-rays and photographs of your teeth so we can immediately show you what we are seeing. Our comprehensive exam focuses on gum health looking for signs of gum disease, and an oral cancer exam. Then we will check for cavities and cracked or broken teeth, missing teeth that haven't been replaced or crooked teeth that are wearing prematurely. Finally a cosmetic evaluation to make sure you are happy with the appearance of your smile. With the results of this thorough check we will work with you to put together a treatment plan that maps out how we will restore or maintain your optimum health.
The initial visit involves a review of your medical history. When you share your medical history, be sure to provide complete, up-to-date information on your health. Inform our office if you have experienced recent hospitalization or surgery, or if you have recently been ill. Also tell us the names, doses, and frequency of any medications you are taking — whether prescription or over-the-counter products — and the name of your physician. Inform us of any changes in your health or medications. This information will help us select the safest and most effective method of treatment for you.
Regular Checkups
We encourage regular checkups for individuals age four and up. Regular checkups are important to:
- Check for problems that you might not see or feel
- Find early signs of decay
- Treat oral health problems early, while they are still manageable
Regular checkups include a thorough cleaning, polishing, and an oral exam by the doctor. During the oral exam, your doctor will check the health of your mouth, teeth, gums, cheeks, and tongue, and will check your existing fillings and restorations because constant pressure from chewing, grinding, or clenching can cause them to wear away, chip, or crack.
Regular checkup appointments typically take about 45 minutes. Patients are seen by appointment only. We make every effort to be on time for our patients, and we ask that you extend the same courtesy to us. If you cannot keep an appointment, please notify us immediately.
